Disciple Moment: The Four Legs, WORD & PRAYER TIME, WORSHIP MUSIC TIME, FASTING, GIVING

The bowl of milk for the cat is under the table. Its time we all sit at the table and start eating meat. 1 Cor 3:2 I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you weren't yet ready. Indeed, not even now are you ready.

Its time to start operating the deep stuff in the Word, not just the basic stuff. Heb 6:1 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God.

Time to move on together men. Assumably you are here because you asked to be sent forth as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Is 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

Its time to realize that milk drinkers argue about obedience to the Word of God, sons and servants get up and DO IT. James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

If you are here, you are a servant. A son. It might not take “all that” for some other Christian. But you are not some “other Christian”. You are here to proclaim the most holy Gospel of Jesus Christ. Eph 6:19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.

The bowl of milk for the cat is under the table. Its time we all sit at the table and start eating meat. But there can be no meat on the table if the table isn’t stable. So lets get the legs on the table.

Sturdy tables have four legs. The four legs that will support you are WORD & PRAYER TIME, WORSHIP MUSIC TIME, FASTING, GIVING

If you aren’t doing these four things then you have not put yourself in a place where you will understand what is about to happen in this club, and you will be on the outside looking in, arguing about words and not getting what God is doing. You are going to miss something BIG God is about to do. Luke 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

What are some of the deeper things of God? Laying on of hands, casting out demons, breaking generational curses, successfully praying healing over others, receiving a Word of Knowledge supernaturally from God about a situation, and more.

Our table must be stable if we are going to put big pieces of meat on it. The foundation of your heart needs to be stable before we can grow into the deeper things of God together. We can’t have the table rocking like a cheap diner table with a bad leg, spilling coffee all over, and letting the meat hit the floor. If your meat starts hitting the floor, and you aren’t getting your meat, then check the legs of your table. WORD & PRAYER TIME, WORSHIP MUSIC TIME, FASTING, GIVING. So lets hit the basics so you can get studied up on what God is about to do.

Disciple Moment: Men of God Give

Men of God Give
Disclaimer: Im not asking you to give to me. But the Bible does ask you to give to your church, your pastor, the needy, your local food bank.
Acts 20: 35 We must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
There are whole chapters of the Bible are dedicated to giving like 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. A well known except from them is chapter 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Not giving is robbing God according to Mal 3:7-8 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.  “But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’ 8“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’  “In tithes and offerings.   Ever asked yourself what the first step to returning to God is? I think that scripture makes it clear.
Now some argue that tithing is the law. But tithing predates the law by 600 years. Abraham tithes inGenesis 14:11-24, and Jacob his grandson tithes in Genesis 28:20-22. There was no law back then, it was just something they did
Giving is the basis of really popular scriptures quotes all the time, like Phil 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me , Or how about Phil 4:19 And my God will supply [o]all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.    Check the context, they are both in a passage about giving to the man of God. Paul writes in Phil 4:17 Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.
That’s right, profit to your account, an acceptable sacrifice pleasing to God when you give.
More importantly, giving is the first step to understanding the deep riches of Word of God. In Luke 16 we find The Parable of the Unrighteous Steward. This parable is about giving. Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. 11"Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? 12"And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?
That’s right, giving is the key to unlocking true riches, and I don’t believe the true riches here are money, but understanding the deep things of the Word.
Don’t be an unrighteous steward. Don’t “Tip” god like you tip a waitress. Be a sower, be a giver.
The church does good things for people, but it doesn’t get light bill, or its building where people can come and be set free, for free. Mal 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house.

Starve Your Flesh, Put Your Spirit on Steroids!

Starve Your Flesh, Put Your Spirit on Steroids!
Cottontown Bible Study 2/15/2015
John 4:19, 21, 23-24 GNB
“I see you are a prophet, sir,” the woman said. Jesus said to her, “Believe me, woman, the time will come when people will not worship the Father either on this mountain or in Jerusalem.  But the time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God's Spirit people will worship the Father as he really is, offering him the true worship that he wants.  God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship him as he really is.”
Galatians 4:29 GNB
At that time the son who was born in the usual way persecuted the one who was born because of God's Spirit; and it is the same now.
The stronger son overcomes the weaker. So we must starve our flesh, put our Spirit on steroids,  a choice made with our soul.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 "And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (ASV
sarx; psychë, and pneuma
The soul decides whether the flesh or the Spirit are fed. It's a discipline decision.
I'm just me,  I can't change who I am, I'm just going to be true to myself: all ways of saying I'm going to let my flesh run my soul,  mind will and emotions.
Kind of like saying I'm just going to think with my penis.
A choice has to be made in the mind, that's enforced in the will,  not to let emotions take over. You have to chose to be a spiritual man, who isn't run by emotions, who forces his flesh down by act of will, so your spirit to take over,  and be guided by the Spirit.
Rom 8:12 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Changing the flesh is hard. Diets don't work.
Working out and building muscle isn't a two week thing. It's a conscious decision how you will act and eat for the rest of your life. Same goes for the Spirit,  there is no quick fix plan,  it's daily discipline.
It's specifically identifying the cravings of the flesh and not giving in,  learning to say "No that's just flesh".
It's realizing that flesh stuff isn't you,  that isn't what you want, you want Spirit stuff.
Feeding our flesh vs feeding our spirit
Feeding Flesh: idle / Idol time : TV,  music, video games, porn, useless conversation, Facebook
Feeding Spirit: Word,  Prayer, worship music, godly conversation,  meditation, fasting
This is what worshiping in spirit is. Our lives focused in starving flesh and feeding Spirit
Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Disciple Moment: How to Build Brotherhood

  1. Biblical Brotherhood
Being Provoked, Abomination, Reconciliation
  1. True brotherhood means submission to each other
    1. Ephesians 5:21 Place yourselves under each other's authority out of respect for Christ. (NLT)
  2. You get a blessing for unity
    1. Ps 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, {Even} Aaron's beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes.3 It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forever.
  3. Being mature in faith means you don’t get to be offended at your brother
    1. 1 Cor 13:5 (Love) does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong {suffered,}
  4. Prov 6:16 What God calls an Abomination
    1. Prov 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,19 A false witness {who} utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.
  5. Matt 18:15 What to do if your brother sins
    1. Go to him privately: don’t spread it all around
    2. If he will not listen, take another brother.
    3. Final step is to make it known to the brothers
  6. FINAL THOUGHT: We need to change how we communicate
    1. Eph 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such {a word} as is good for edification according to the need {of the moment,} so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Disciple Disciplines 4 – Readiness and Submission

Disciple Disciplines 4 – Readiness and Submission
WATERS: The Word Abides in our Thoughts of Encouragement, Readiness and Submission. Disciplines are something we walk in daily, to find our destiny
1.READY to speak the Word, serve and pray for others
2.If I am so tied up in my need and my problem, I never see what others need.
2.1.1 Pet 3:15 always be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
2.2.2 Tim 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season {and} out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
3.SUBMIT yourselves one to another and Biblical leadership
4.Submission: Under the mission
5.Your destiny is not for you alone.
6.You cannot reach your destiny alone, or without leadership
7.Why we need prophets….
7.1.Ephesians 5:21 Place yourselves under each other's authority out of respect for Christ
7.2.Heb 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
7.2.1.Your blessing comes through biblical submission
7.3.1Cor 16:16 Ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth.
7.4.1 Cor 4:15 For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet {you would} not {have} many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
8.FINAL THOUGHTS: When the Word is in us, we are ready to use it to further God’s kingdom, that is our mission. Just like any soldier on a mission, we must understand the structure and leadership of God’s army.

Disciple Disciplines 3 – Thoughts of Encouragement

Disciple Disciplines 3 – Thoughts of Encouragement
WATERS: The Word Abides in our Thoughts of Encouragement, Readiness and Submission. Disciplines are something we walk in daily, to find our destiny
1.THOUGHT life is controlled and given to God
1.1.Focust on the positive:
1.1.1.Phil 4:8 Whatever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; any virtue, any praise, think on these things.
1.2.The Thought life is spiritual warfare:
1.2.1.2 Cor 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2.ENCOURAGE the brothers every time you see them
2.1.The world tears down, we build up!
2.1.1.Eph 4:29 Speak edification…so that it will give grace to those who hear.
3.FINAL THOUGHT: Edifying others takes genuine thought. Pray that you will understand how to praise others!

2.3.IS 55:6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
3.FINAL THOUGHT: The more we read, the more we speak the word, the more we speak the word, the more great things happen in our lives.

How do we pray without ceasing? Lets take a look at the awesome prayers that the Apostle Paul put out there for us in Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

Disciple Moment - Brotherhood and Submission

Join us for The Word on how we deal with dissension among brothers, and how to address an issue with a brother who has wronged you.
